Tiny ants keep appearing on your kitchen counters, floor, and cabinets. Read more to learn about causes, removing them and keep them from coming back.
Tiny ants that show up in your kitchen may be Odorous House Ants (AKA Sugar Ants). These ants are the hardest ants that we deal with in the Pacific Northwest.
Odorous House Ants (AKA Sugar Ants) are attracted to food crumbs, sweets, fruit, and sugar in any form. They are also attracted to traces of these things in the form of spills and stains.
The wet Northwest climate creates ideal conditions for ants. They find their way into your home through gaps around doors, windows, screens, cracks in the foundation, and even under exterior siding.
We do not recommend home remedies or over the counter insecticides to get rid of Odorous House Ants (AKA Sugar Ants). Using home remedies or over the counter insecticides may worsen the problem because it may split the colony or colonies.
To prevent Odorous House Ants (AKA Sugar Ants), make sure your food is kept in sealed containers. Keep your counters, floors, and cabinets clean. Make sure to keep the area free of crumbs, dirt, food, and beverage stains. Keep vegetation cut away from exterior of structure.
If you are experiencing an ant infestation in your home or business, contact Environmental Pest Control. We have the experience and equipment to do the job.
